When chipping I use this method;
Look at where you want to land the ball then use this formula
6 Iron 25% in the air then 75% Roll
8 Iron 30% in the air then 70% Roll
PW 50% in the air then 50% Roll
LW 70% in the air then 30% Roll
Then make an allowance for slow or fast greens of up down hill
i.e. Instead of a pw 50/50 for an uphill put use a 9 or 8 Iron
or downhill move to a GW or LW
If there is a lot of green use a 6 Iron very little green use a Lob Wedge.
Don't aim at the hole, concentrate on the landing area with the correct loft.
Really shortens your putting distance to get those birdies.
