Golf Holidays in UK

I have a 2-week driving holidays in UK in August, and am looking for advise on where shall I focus. I am looking at staying in a few towns for 2 or 3 days in each, and then play within one hour drive of each town. In betwene golf I would like to visit local tourist attractions, or just simply drive around the ciuntry sides.

Any opinions or similar experience to be shared here?
