So you may have heard that the R&A/USGA have decided to alter the grooves on Irons from 2010:
Clubs affected are from 25 Deg plus i.e. 5 Iron to wedges but not drivers or putters.
Only mens and Lady's professional players are affected initially.
The reason for this is to stop players from creating so much spin from the rough etc.
Tee shots and long iron shots will need more accuracy, so hitting the greens, fairways, shots onto the green will more important as players will not find it as easy to stop the ball quickly from the hazzards.
These will start to be a penalty again at least for the pro's, They still are for me at least.
We should not see so many miracle shots around the course and more playing off the ball back into play.
good news for us is that our Irons that we have will be legal until 2024.
