Hi there, I was wondering what everyones opinion is on a multiple course membership card. That is a card which allows you to play on several different courses either locally or nationally. I heard about this idea recently and thought it would be a good investment. I think the membership fee is slightly more (but not a great deal more) than membership for a single club. How much would you be willing to pay for this privilege? If, given the chance, would you use different clubs regularly, or stay loyal to your regular club?

Hi there,
I pay for the year by DD. to use the Birmingham Council courses, They have seven around Birmingham Its about £650 approx for weekdays only green fees and about £50 a year club fees (optional). If I was to pay for just the one course it would be £550 weekdays approx plus club fees. I worked out that if play two nines a week for forty weeks and I am in profit, and still a nomadic player by choice, I would join the club of my choice of the seven if I needed a handicap and would hand in my cards as normal if i played with a member of my club choice. Last week I played four of the seven courses, I could not afford to pay/play this often game by game. works for me.:) Green fees are more important than club fees in my case.

There isn't a scheme like that round here, so I have no choice but to join a local course. To that had a choice to either join one of teh two I drive past on my way to work, or the one that is 2 minutes from the office :). I opted for the latter in the end because they have a lot of business networking golf events there, so means I can play 9 holes in the morning and then be back in the office for work at a sensible time.
Personally though, I too would prefer to pay a slightly higher fee that gives me access to a number of courses because I enjoy playing a different courses as and when the mood takes me.
